Johnny

Johnny had a gentle voice
moved a gentle body
went to fight in a great war
never to be returning

and all the girls cried: step on lightly Johnny!
the beauty you wore won't disappear
Jonnie, Johnnie

saw a movement in the night
had a crimson color
Johnny whispers at my back
"don't fade with the morning"

NOTE: this was written in times of civil war. It didn't simply play with metaphors, just tried to express as much sorrow  as I managed to do. Those were not really easy times, not at all.

Giacomo Conserva: a real (though limited) civil war raged in Italy about 30 years ago. it was horrible: and somebody won and somebody lost- leaving corpses, shattered lives, mind scars, repentings and boastings

Tenzin Nanette Miles: Giacomo, I will have to review the histories of Modern Italy, especially since I now again have such good Italian friends. Last year I heard an excellent talk about how people act out trauma by a Veterans Administration Pscy. His perspective was that some of these characteristics were a type of psychosis; whereas in "eastern" thought, some of these characteristics described a more developed human being. Nevertheless, it isn't the war that is needed but the ability to experience the circle of life & death and the compassion that develops through focusing on another.
