[Avevo pensato, ora, a una bibliografia, o delle note. Ma mi sembrano terribilmente inadeguate davanti a questa bellezza e a questo destino. Posso dire che il primo verso, tras-formato, viene dalla prima poesia di Ginsberg che lessi (pensava a Walt Whitman, lui, in un supermarket della California anni '50); ed il secondo, naturalmente, dalla apparizione distruttrice/salvifica della Rima del Vecchio Marinaio di Coleridge.
La bellezza salverà il mondo? Chi lo sa-
(e avevo in mente, pensando alla vita e alla morte di Francesca Woodman quella sera, quel grande libro d'amore che è Just Kids di Patti Smith, e il non meno grande The women's Room (Donne) di Marylin French).

I had been thinking, now, of a bibliography, or notes. But they seem to me terribly inadequate in face of this beauty and this fate. I can say that the first line, trans-formed, comes from the first Allen Ginsberg poem I read (he having had Walt Whitman in his thoughts -he- in a '50's California supermarket); and the second, of course, from the destroying/saving apparition in Coleridge's Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
Is beauty going to save the world? Who knows-
(and I had on my mind -thinking that evening of Francesca Woodman's life and of her death- JUST KIDS, Patti Smith's great tale of love, and the equally great THE WOMEN'S ROOM Marylin French wrote).
