Cupid/ Eros
They said that Cupid (Eros) was in fact the mightiest of the gods: because no one- not Ares, not Hephaistos, not Apollo or Zeus or even Aphrodite could resist his sometimes so sweet, sometimes so merciless driving. And that this was all the more true for demigods (Herakles!) and simple men.- It took the sufferings of a maiden that the omnipotent god might come to accept some reciprocity of the desire he so irresistibly instilled- yes it took her long despairs and her trials and her bitter moments of hopelessness that she, Psyche, could find in him, Eros, a lover ( her lover)- and no more her darkly shining numinous master of her nights. So we, who came later, venerate the two of them, cherish them in our hearts and in our outer actions, and of both we implore whatever help for us may come. And always, always remember their story.
